Why Australia is Ideal for Your First Trip

One of the keys to enjoying your first trip is to choose the perfect destination. The world is filled with wonderfully exciting places but perhaps Australia is the finest for you to choose on your first adventure.

No Language Worries

Assuming that English is your native language you won’t have any language worries in Oz. In fact, it can be wonderfully refreshing to find yourself surrounded by people speaking in that lovely accent and using words you aren’t used to but instinctively understand.

Friendly People

You might already be used to speaking to Australians, as they sure know how to get around. Even if you aren’t then it shouldn’t take you long to get to like them and their easy going approach to life. Anywhere you go in the country you are likely to find friendly and helpful locals who make your trip easy and memorable.

Lots of Other Travellers

I remember reading once that there are around a million British tourists and backpackers in Australia at any given time. That figure sounds ridiculously high but there is no doubt that it is a massively popular destination with backpackers from all over the world. The best figures I can find suggest that around half a million foreign backpackers arrive each year, although I guess that a lot of them stay for more than a year. Anyway, the upshot is that you won’t be short of company in the hostels.

Lots to Do

Wherever you go you will want to have a lot of different options for spending your time. In Australia you can choose from great cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, head out to the outback or take a trip across the Tasmania. Don’t forget about Uluru/Ayers Rock either. Even if you plan on spending months there you won’t run out of things to do.

A Similar but Different Culture

Culture shock is something which can affect travellers from Western Europe when they go somewhere like Asia or Latin America. There is far less chance of this happening in Australia, especially when it comes to British travellers. However, while the culture has plenty of similarities with Europe there are enough differences to keep it interesting for you.
